COLTS
The Colts section, one of the most successful in the South, acts as the bridge between Junior Rugby and Senior Rugby and provides players aged 16 to 19 with a high standard of competitive matches and with quality coaching.
As well as providing competitive matches at U19, U18 and U17 levels, we recognise the need to develop the younger or less experienced players through development matches, and arrange friendlies where these players have opportunities to develop their rugby skills.
The Colts play in Division 1 of the Hampshire Colts League which we won in 2008/9, and compete in the National Colts Cup, where they have twice recently progressed to the last 16. They also compete in the Hampshire U18 knock-out cup, and often in the National U17 knock-out cup. In addition the Colts enter teams in various 7’s tournaments at the end of the season.
As they progress through the Colts, many players get their first opportunity to play senior rugby, with several players playing for the 1st XV. In recent years several Petersfield Colts have been selected to play for the County U17 and U18’s, London Division and England.
The Colts train on Tuesday evenings, in conjunction with the 1st XV, from 7.00pm to 8.30pm Matches are played on Sundays with a 2.00pm kick-off.
